Things I Won’t Be Doing While Using Cloth Diapers

New Year, New Me! Right?

Every January, we set resolutions to make life more organized, healthier, or less stressful. This year, instead of adding to my to-do list, I’m focusing on what I’m letting go of. Here are all the things I am not doing in 2025, thanks to cloth diapering.

1. I Won’t Be Buying Diapers Every Week.

Gone are the days of frantic store runs because I realize too late that we ran out of disposable diapers. With cloth diapers, I always have a backup. A quick wash cycle is all it takes to restock my supply, so there’s no fear of running out and I never have to worry about the store not having our preferred size or brand in stock.

2. I Won’t Be Worrying About Rash Creams.

Cloth diapers are made with gentle, skin-friendly fabrics that reduce irritation and the need for rash creams. My baby’s skin stays healthier, and I can skip the extra steps of applying creams after every change.

3. I Won’t Be Spending a Fortune.

When I first started researching cloth diapers, the upfront cost felt like a huge barrier. But once I did the math, I realized that it was similar in cost to a few months of disposable diapers, but at the end of those few months, I still have diapers to wash and reuse versus needing to continue to buy more disposables. The savings really add up over time.

4. I Won’t Be Contributing to Landfills.

Did you know that disposable diapers can take up to 500 years to decompose? Cloth diapers help me cut down on that waste and feel good about reducing my environmental impact. It’s one small change that makes a big difference.

5. I Won’t Be Stressed About Diaper Blowouts.

Cloth diapers are designed with elastic in the legs and waistband so they fit snugly and securely, which means fewer leaks and blowouts. That extra protection gives me peace of mind, especially when we’re out and about.

6. I Won’t Be Giving Up Cute Designs.

Who said diapers can’t be adorable? Cloth diapers come in so many fun prints and patterns that they’re practically a part of my baby’s wardrobe. When a cute diaper can double as pants, it also cuts down on laundry. I call this a double win.

7. I Won’t Be Settling for Convenience Over Sustainability.

One of my biggest worries was that cloth diapering would be too complicated. But it’s turned out to be easier than I expected. I get the best of both worlds—eco-friendly living with a routine that is easy for me to manage.

Final Thoughts

Choosing cloth diapers has been one of the best parenting decisions I’ve made. Instead of adding more work to my routine, it’s simplified so many aspects of life while giving me peace of mind about my baby’s health, my budget, and the planet. If you’re considering cloth diapering, don’t let fear of the unknown hold you back.
